The game of Roulette is played by players that place their bets on the different fields on the roulette table. All the players have different colours on their chips so that the dealer can know which bets are winning or losing bets. Once all bets are made the dealer spins the roulette wheel in one direction and spins the roulette ball in the other direction inside of the wheel. When the ball stops it falls into a slot which has a number and a colour (Red or Black, Green for 0), players betting on this number or colour win according to their bet type and payout is made.
There are two types of Roulette, American Roulette, European Roulette & the French Roulette type. The rules are identical for all of the types and the only difference is that on the European Roulette wheel there is only one 0 (ZERO), where as the American Roulette wheel has two zeros (00). Actually the House Edge is bigger in the game of American Roulette then in the European Roulette game, the house edge is almost the half in the European Roulette game then of the American game type. The European Roulette wheel has the numbers 0-36 and the American Roulette wheel has 0, 00 and 1-36. The numbers inside the Roulette wheel is represented by coloured fields on the Roulette table.
There are inside bets and outside bets,
inside bets are harder to win but pay much more then outside bets.
Inside bets
“Single number”: Bet made on a single number. Pays 35 times the bet if ball hits this number.
“Split”: Betting on two numbers by placing the chips on the line dividing the two numbers. Pays 17 times the bet if ball hits any of the two numbers.
“Street”: Bets made on the line on the side of 3 numbers. Pays 11 times the bet.
“Double Street”: The same as “Street” bet but the bet is placed between two rows with 3 numbers in each, therefore betting on 6 numbers. Pays 5 times the bet.
“Corner”: Betting on 4 numbers by placing the chips on the on the cross of lines that divide 4 fields. Pays 8 times the bet. (In the game of European roulette you may place bets on the numbers 0,1,2 and 3 and this will count as a “Corner” bet, but in the game of American roulette you may place bets on 0,00,1,2 and 3 but the payout is only 6 times the bet.)
Outside bets
“Red or Black”: Bet on a colour, if the ball falls in to a slot with the colour red or black.
This bet pays 1 to 1.
“Low bet”: Bet on that the ball will fall into one of the numbers 1-18.
“High bet”: Bet on that the ball will fall into one of the numbers 19-36. Winning bets payout 2 to 1.
“Dozens bet”: Bet on that the ball will fall into one of the duzens, 1-12 or 13-24 or 25-36. Winning bets payout 2 to 1.
